Touker Suleyman

After buying the luxury menswear brand Hawes & Curtis for £1 in 2000, Touker Suleyman went on to acquire Ghost London, which has since seen a complete makeover and been turned into a semi- luxurious brand. Now a star of the BBC’s Dragons’ Den, Touker’s business portfolio is consistently growing with new and exciting projects.

After leaving school, Touker's first profession was accountancy, but he soon moved into manufacturing with his brother. Following the liquidation of one of his companies, Touker was forced to sell off his home in order to repay debts.

Never to be deterred, Touker bounced back with Low Profile, a manufacturing business that used to supply Ralph Lauren Europe from their factory in Turkey.

Having noticed that Hawes & Curtis was for sale, and due to his strong background in manufacturing, Touker purchased the business for £1 and after paying off the £500, 000 debt, the brand was transformed. Hawes & Curtis recently celebrated its 100th birthday and currently has stores in the UK, Germany and UAE, with plans for their first US retail outlet in New York by the end of 2016.

With his desire to grow his business portfolio further, Touker ventured into women's fashion and acquired Ghost in 2008; the re-branded ‘Ghost London’ is now taking the industry by storm.

One of Touker’s most recent investments is Matchstick Monkey, a teething brush for babies. His vision is to build the whole brand and create an extensive range of baby products, so watch this space!
